Parent-Infant &
Parent-Child Classes
Parent-Infant class offers time for conversation and sharing with other parents, a safe natural environment for children to explore as well as time for learning songs, verses and activities that will nurture your baby.
Parent-Child class includes imaginative play, circle time, songs, puppet plays, handwork, games, and outdoor exploration. As the children are busy with their play the adults are busy with conversation and crafts. The classes are two hours long and our routine begins outdoors, on the playground. We play and work a bit outdoors, and depending upon the weather, stay out and have a circle time, or just spend 15-20 minutes outdoors and then continue the play inside. Either way, we follow play time with cleanup and circle time. Circle time is a brief, very parent/child interactive celebration of song and verse. It is followed with a snack of simple wholesome foods. Each family has a small task after snack to help care for our classroom. To finish up our morning we have a short puppet story and then have a goodbye verse and song before going home. The adults spend time doing handwork projects and discussing parenting and educational topics during the children's playtimes. The classes provide a support group of sorts for parents, and provide a social experience for the children. Our Parent-Child classes are an introduction into what Waldorf education has to offer children and families.
Three sessions (fall, winter, spring) are held each academic year.
Fall 2010 classes will be held the weeks of September 13 - November 12
Winter class weeks are January 3- February 28
Spring classes are held the weeks of March 14 - May 9
